Part Three: Collaborative task and discussion
Your company is planning a new employee orientation program. Talk together for about 2 minutes about the things that will give the new employees a successful start and decide which three are the most important. Here are some ideas to help you.(就对新员工顺利进入角色有用的信息讨论两分钟)
· Acquaintance with coworkers [‘kəʊˌwɜːkə]（认识同事）
· Showing around the office
· Job description
· Company structure
· Work environment
· Key policies and procedures（公司主要规定和流程）
· Corporate culture
· Completing necessary personnel forms（填写个人信息表）
A: Our company is planning a new employee orientation program. What can we do to make new employees feel comfortable, welcome and secure（安全，安心）?
B: I think we should start with the basics. That is to say, we should make sure key coworkers know the employee is starting and encourage them to come to say “hello” before orientation begins.(鼓励他们在入职培训开始前来打招呼)
A: Exactly. We can also assign a mentor to show the new person around, make introductions, and start training.
B: I am sure they all need some buddy. This makes the newcomers know whom to turn to when they need help.
A: I suppose giving a guided tour of the company, especially their assigned work space, is also very helpful.
B: You are right. During the tour, we can also explain where rest rooms, refreshments, and break areas are located.
A: And we should also help them to complete all the necessay personnel forms.
B: That’s absolutely true. The best way to do that is to provide samples about how to complete forms.
A: Shall we explain to them all the key policies and procedures of our company?
B: I don’t think overwhelming them with too much information is a good idea. To sum up, acquaintance with coworkers, showing around the office and completing necessary personnel forms are the three most important things.
